Kit Kelen #614 - everyone is more important than anybody else

614
everyone is more important than anybody else

(just the next in a series of efforts at perspective)

when we were nothing
(in all time before)

not even inklings
then the itch was yet
and we would rub
swim, sit

when we had nothing
went not even cap-in-hand

we empty heads
were full of it
bent to some universal will
and found opinion there

when there was nothing to do
the world would turn its own way

when nothing lacked
we were a promise, not quite costed

when we were empty
it was a light world
could have spun off by itself then

blank slate
has everyone had this dream –
that these were the only words to survive?

when we knew nothing
we were legend

when no one knew how much time
then it was hope sprung eternal

when we were blind and deaf
surely touched
held and later higher
here’s esteem then

when there was no orchestra
we’d sing

when we were shunned
we’d scoff
did we imagine good as got?

still we were unbegun
I was to be borne off
cloud-high with hunches

you try erasure
all that ink shows through

when there was no tune in us
some chord must have struck

a cadence fell
when we were away
a hollow drum
rhythm of more was with us
we sawed ourselves off

when we were good for nothing

sky just as blue
and stars as bright
should we revolve
or better rotate?
sometimes sat it out

when we were quite unknown
did we pay attention?

and when the snake struck
when the poison took to lungs

so many ways we fell
and under the wheels
we were dirt

so many ways
from this one nothing
to never say next

when we were empty-hearted
love lit

there must have been a first rhyme
lilt in the letters we scribbled
just learning

nobody to no one was
we had a frog pond haiku for that

went on
never amounted to much

dust got up the nose
was what it was

this time it’s morning
the kettle makes steam

it’s only from
blank of mind
such visits

geological truth
how long will that last?

somehow music slipped through
at regular intervals the news

suddenly all those years ago
and each made of days
and dreamt between
the way we’d go

so soon
and we’re
nothing again

darling, a lovely day
