Rob Schackne #451 - Since You Asked (4)

Since You Asked (4)

There's no reason
for that jockey-stick
on your kid's new bike

it could be spring
in this land of Lao Tzu
who was imagined

and Chuang Tzu
whose real existence
wasn't a butterfly

and Huineng
the Last Patriarch
completely illiterate

who saw it coming
it's a rotting poem
dateline Shanghai
it could be summer
many pipes are needed
in a country of amnesiacs
I go outside and find
the Seven of Pentacles

lying on a bench
it could be autumn
