Kit Kelen #792 - as if

792
as if

as if there were a world to come
a bell to ring
a trumpet blast
clock you run up too

as if
there were a ghosted soul
to make eternities of you
and better men like Gungadin

see how a dream must mind us thus
with all entreaties

as if there one made
or we could be in
if this were a cave
so minded that we might forget
the conversation up till now
the coming up in the lift

as if this were a penthouse apartment
where they braid gods' beards
tickle old todge
and let's have a lick
as if this were where ice cream's from
and chocolate, marzipan

it's always best to love the host
as if your life depended

this pantheon of silence
the answer to my prayer

as if there were a judgement
and a truth of us all
scribbled down somewhere

as if the lot of us were quite deranged
and fallen, like angels, about
morning after binge

as if this world were here for us
to fuck till red and raw
to pick and choose who to abuse
and all in someone's image
we keep a calendar of appetites

as if the one book said the lot
and all sat up to bark

come down in the last shower
all woolly over eye
as if the garden were where we'd begun
not all of our ages can keep up one

where the blue's struck
with sunshine, cloud
and I inhabit
for how long unknown
but not because of fate

it's a forest
there's this day
we're aptly in
and these my words
and yours to follow

all fleshly, blood run
with the bones
go into the moment
we make
